The regulation on turning left directly has now been replaced and regulated in Law Number 22 of 2009 concerning Traffic and Road Transportation (LLAJ Law). Article 112 Paragraph (33) of the LLAJ Law states that at intersections equipped with Traffic Signal Devices (APILL), vehicle drivers are prohibited from turning left directly, unless otherwise specified by the APILL.
This means that drivers are required to comply with applicable traffic regulations. Turning left directly is not permitted without a “turn left directly” or “turn left continue” sign.

In accordance with Law No. 29 of 2009 concerning Traffic and Road Transportation, Article 287, Paragraph 1, states that traffic violators will be subject to sanctions. In this article, every driver who is proven to have violated the rules will be subject to a maximum imprisonment of 2 months or a fine of up to IDR 500,000.
